A message about the Pinewood Derby:

Hi Pack 356'ers

* Reminder to scouts/parents that pre-manufactured cars available at craft and hobby stores are  NOT to be used for the P356 PW Derby. Only cars that are made from the kits that were handed out at pack and den meetings are to be used.

* Reminder for PW derby volunteers that the church opens at 4:30pm on Monday to set up the track/computers for time trials. We need a few volunteers to help set up the track, move chairs, and setup tables, etc.

* Time trials are from 6PM to 8PM on Monday, 1/18.

* Volunteers who plan to help register cars and run the track should be there by 5:30 for a quick training session.

If you plan to volunteer and you are not on the PW sub-committee please let Paul, paul.powell@gmail.com, know that you are coming.

Any questions please let contact Paul Powell or Jeff Wilkie - jeffreywilkie@hotmail.com

Help for Haiti's Earthquake Victims:

Do you want to help the people in Haiti? Then read the following email from Bob Hunter. Please consider helping out by putting a few of these kits together. Contact Bob: bhunter82@gmail.com and he will let you know how you can contact Mrs. Little when the kits are finished.

Health Kits have been requested by folks in Haiti. There is a contact, Mrs. Helen Little, that is in Haiti currently. She has people here in Fuquay that can get Health Kits sent out very quickly. Please consider putting a few of these kits together and bringing them to the church so we can get them sent out as fast as possible. It is clear that the Haitian people are in desperate need of help. This is a way that each Scout can show CITIZENSHIP IN THE WORLD (remember that merit badge you earned).

This stuff can be purchased at Dollar Stores (it doesn't cost much)

A Health Kit contains specific items:

1 hand towel (15” x 25” up to 17” x 27”)

1 wash cloth

1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)

1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)

1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz and up)

1 toothbrush (single brush only in original wrapper; no child-sized brushes)

1 large tube of toothpaste

6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages

All items should be placed inside a sealed one-gallon plastic bag.

No money, notes, religious or political literature, or other items should be placed in the kits.

Yours in Scouting,
Bob Hunter

Why Join Scouting?

In 1930, the Boy Scouts of America created a new opportunity called Cub Scouting for boys younger than Boy Scout age. A year-round, home-centered program used by chartered organizations, Cub Scouting emphasizes involvement between boys and their parents, adult leaders, and friends. In the multidimensional plan of the Boy Scouts of America, Cub Scouting is where it all begins.

If you are interested in joining Pack 356 please contact our Scout Master: CubMaster Larry O'Neal
